Randall Park
Class of 1997
For him, every role is a statement.
With so few quality roles available for Asian-American actors on TV and in the movies, almost every performance is noteworthy. But for Randall Park, the attention has been white hot. He was hailed for his performance as North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un in the movie minefield that was The Interview in 2014, and he plays the dad in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, the first American sitcom in 20 years starring an Asian-American family. “I want to see more faces like mine on TV,” says Park, who has been acting since 2000 and co-founded LCC Asian American Theater group while at UCLA. “I want to see more people like me playing roles that are multi-faceted and layered and funny.”
