Dave Roberts
Class of 1995
HE’S MANAGED TO MAKE BASEBALL HISTORY.
It is only fitting that Dave Roberts got a degree in history at UCLA, since he’s spent a lifetime making it as a baseball superstar and inspiration. He was the most prolific base stealer in Bruin history, stealing a total of 109 bases during his college career. The highlight of Roberts’ decade as a Major League outfielder came in 2004, when he stole second base and came around to score, igniting the historic rally that brought the Boston Red Sox back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series and go on to win their first World Series in a century. In late 2015, Roberts made history again, becoming the first minority manager in the storied history of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
